When the field turned for home in today's sixth race at Belmont, it sure looked like the odds-on favorite Mesa Sunrise -- an $800,000 Fasig-Tipton February sale purchase trained by Bill Mott -- was home and dry. That was until Tire Kicker uncorked a 24 second final quarter while making up six lengths to reel in the leader and prevail by 2-1/4 lengths in 1:11.53.

Hats off to trainer Mark Hennig and jockey Cornelio Velazquez on the promising performance submitted by this first time starter.

As always, congratulations to owner-breeder Camelia Casby for her latest success.

Hey David,

I saw that race and thought Tire Kicker's late kick was eye popping. I immediately added him to my virtual stable!
